We researched the best spots around the area of Barcelona for you, so during your trip you can focus on having the best time!

Sitges

Of course, one of the most iconic things about Barcelona is the beach. But, if you want to do it like the locals, we bring you the best beach day trip! Take the R2 to Vilanova I la Gertru or Sant Vicenç de Calders at Sants Estació or Passeig de Gràcia and head to Sitges, an easy 30-minute train ride to one of the most beautiful towns of the area.

  • Spend the morning at its beautiful beach, appreciating the tranquillity and peace you cannot find in Barcelona.
  • Enjoy a nice stroll along Sitges’ promenade and go around its beautiful Cathedral. Definitely a landscape you will want to take a picture of!
  • Finish the day relaxing at Terramar’s Gardens, a nice spot to sit under the cool shade of the trees and relax while your children run around and play in the kids’ play area.

Garraf

If you want to spend the day out in a quiet and tranquil Catalonian town, there is no better way to do so than Garraf. Take the R2 to Vilanova I la Gertru at Sants Estació or Passeig de Gràcia and head to Garraf, an easy 25-minute train ride to one of the most charming towns of the area.

  • Enjoy a nice swim and sunbathing session in its small creek, usually frequented only by locals. It’s usually not very crowded, so it’s great for a relaxing time.
  • If you’re up for it, we recommend you to head to Peña Segada de la Cruz del Garraf. A beautiful cliff that looks down on the town and Sea, making for a very magical view.

Montgat

The other side of Barcelona’s region is just a beautiful with a distinctive atmosphere, a great family-friendly town to visit during your stay. Take the Ferrocarril to Mataró at Sants Estació or Passeig de Gràcia and head to Montgat, an easy 25-minute train ride.

  • This town is known for its beautiful promenade. Enjoy a nice stroll around the coastline while eating an ice-cream from one of the ice-cream shops near the beach.
  • We love to come to Montgat to eat at one of its traditional Mediterranean restaurants near the beach such as El Mirall, located right at the beach.

Montserrat

Definitely worth heading out of the city, a landscape you won’t see anywhere else in the world! This unique mountain and monastery are just a train away: take the R5 in Plaça Espanya to Manresa-Baixador. There you just need to take a 15-minute cable car.

-       Take a tour of all there is to see in the area, thanks to its long and interesting history it’s definitely a great way to experience Montserrat.

-       Bring your own snacks and beverages and enjoy a nice family picnic at the special location provided there with an astonishing view of the mountains.

-       Many beautiful routes, take a look at the map and choose your favourite! We recommend to do them if your kids are a bit older as the routes are not accessible with strollers.
