Fun family days out in Tenerife

Published October 28 2023

Here you will find some of Travel 4 baby’s favourite days out in Tenerife.

Loro Parque

Loro Parque has some of the most amazing animals. You can watch the Dolphins as they perform tricks and dances as well as the humongous Orcas as they swim and splash! Watch out, they don’t just splash a little bit. You could get soaked! These are just two of the most popular attractions inside the park. Visiting the penguins on a revolving platform through their Arctic, polar environment is simply amazing. The Park is famous for it's many Parrots which you can view and enjoy as you move around the Park, but it's also a sanctuary for a wide selection of endangered species from around the world. The variety of animals at Loro Parque is vast. With Sea Lions, Gorillas, Chimps, Tigers, and even Sharks, it’s easy to see why it’s a firm favourite with families visiting Tenerife. It's not to be missed and it’s a great day out for the whole family, young or old.

Submarine Safaris

Imagine seeing what lies 100 feet underneath the Atlantic Ocean without even getting your hair wet!  Look no further than the world-famous Yellow Submarine! It is spacious and doesn’t feel claustrophobic at all. It has a normal atmosphere so is absolutely fine for people of different ages, ear conditions, and even pregnant women. You don’t experience sea sickness onboard a Submarine and you can’t even feel it moving. The Submarine is large and feels very spacious. Every two seats have their own private viewing window for you to witness the incredibly vast marine life. You never know what you might see down there! You have a digital screen so you can see the submarine moving underneath the water. It is a really incredible family experience, especially for those who aren’t able to scuba dive.

Science and Cosmos Museum La Laguna

The Northeast of the Island is where you will find the beautiful UNESCO heritage town of La Laguna. The town is a real mixture of old meets new. Buildings date back to the times of Christopher Columbus, yet a modern tram line runs between La Laguna and the capital of Santa Cruz, passing by the impressive Museum of Science and Cosmos. The museum itself is fantastic for all ages. It is highly interactive with experiments and technology available for everyone to try. It’s a really ‘hands on’ museum which makes it perfect for kids. Discover everything from the workings of the human body to the fascinating world of astronomy. Tenerife is world famous in the astronomy field and the museum is home to the Island’s one and only Planetarium. There is even a specific area for very young children with puzzles and small workstations. You can wander around at your own pace and the museum is buggy and wheelchair accessible with ramps and lifts throughout. If you are visiting La Laguna during your stay in Tenerife, the museum is a fantastic place to stop for a couple of hours during the day.

Whale Watching Tours

Did you know that there are over 500 Pilot Whales living just off the Southern coast of Tenerife? Most boat companies give you a money back guarantee, they are that confident! We are very lucky in Tenerife to have these amazing mammals residing here. You never know what else you will see out there as the area is also home to dolphins and Sea Turtles as well! Most boat tours spend time viewing the whales, they often include a swim stop as well as drinks and snacks. Some boats even offer family entertainment on board. Here at Travel 4 Baby, we have tried and tested many different boat trips and have hand-picked the best options for families. Our favourites include the Ragnarok Viking Cruise, The Royal Delfin glass bottom boat and the beautiful Catamaran tours. Sailings can last from as little as two hours up to as long as six hours! There are different options to suit all taste buds and it really is a special experience to share with your nearest and dearest here on the Island.

Monkey Park

Monkey Park is a cheap and cheerful alternative to the main animal parks on the island costing only 10 euro per adult and 5 Euros per child over the age of 5. Children can get up close to the Monkeys and Guinea Pigs and if you buy a one-euro bag of animal food at the entrance you can even feed some of them. The park is only small, but it does have lots of different species of monkeys, crocodiles and an array of amphibians and more. This park is perfect for small children, it’s close to the resorts in the South and you only need a couple of hours inside. Getting there… The easiest option is by taxi which are cheap enough from the South. To keep costs lower you could catch a bus to Los Cristianos and then taxi from there would be around 10 euro. If you have a hire car, free parking is available.

Siam Park

Siam Park is the number one attraction for families in Tenerife. With something to suit every age group, Siam Park creates holiday memories that will last a lifetime. The water park has been voted number one in the world year after year and it’s easy to see why. The thing that we love most is that the park has something for all age groups. There are three separate baby/ children’s slide areas and splash zones. There is even a treetop park. The Lost City is a favorite of ours with mini slides, climbing nets and water buckets. There is a kid’s beach, Coco Beach at Siam Park where babies can paddle, play and build sandcastles. It includes a mini version of the big wave machine! There’s an abundance of slides for big kids too including some of the fastest and longest in the world. There’s so much for kids to enjoy at Siam Park and if they are over 110cm they can ride on lots of the big family slides too. If somebody in the family doesn’t like water, they can watch the sea lions or float on the lazy river or even peer into the amazing shark tunnel. Siam Park is the perfect family day.
